Why this matters
Every team with more than a few data connections has had this moment: someone opens the connections list, points at one, and asks “what is this for?” The answer lives in a former teammate’s head or in a Slack thread. And cleaning up the wrong connection can break cost ingestion.
Now each connection can carry a note that explains why it exists, and anyone who opens the connection sees it.
What we built
CloudZero users can now add a free-text note to any data connection, across AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Datadog, and every other provider. Label an AWS connection “CUR 1.0 – retire after migration,” or mark an AnyCost connection as a temporary workaround, or flag one as limited-purpose. Once you write it down, the whole team has the context.
This came straight from a field request and shipped in under a week.
How it works
Open any connection’s details panel and add or edit the note through the existing Edit and Save Changes flow. Anyone with connection-read access can see the note. Users with Write to Cloud Integrations permission can add or change it. There’s no new permission and no separate setup needed. It’s available now for all customers.
