The CloudZero VS Code Extension 2.0 adds a sidebar that brings CostFormation namespace management directly into your editor, so you never have to break flow for a browser tab.
Why this matters
If you manage CostFormation in VS Code, every namespace operation used to pull you out of the editor and into a browser tab: browse namespaces in the platform, publish from the platform, check on a definition from the platform. That context switching breaks flow, and for teams running multiple namespaces in parallel it compounds: three namespaces means three round-trips, three browser sessions running alongside your editor.
The 2.0 Sidebar moves those workflows back into VS Code. Switch organizations, browse CostFormation namespaces, publish Dimension definitions, and inspect namespace metadata without leaving the editor. Each namespace runs as an isolated workstream with its own version history, so parallel teams aren’t stepping on each other.
What we built
The CloudZero VS Code Extension 2.0 adds a sidebar that centralizes CostFormation namespace management, so you can browse namespaces, publish Dimension definitions, and inspect metadata all without leaving your editor, with independent version history per namespace so parallel teams stay scoped to what they own.
How it works
Install or update the CloudZero extension from the VS Code Marketplace. The sidebar appears in the activity bar once installed. Authenticate with your CloudZero credentials, select your organization, and your CostFormation namespaces load directly in the panel. From there you can browse Dimension definitions, publish changes, and track version history per namespace. Switching between organizations or namespaces takes a click.
