- We’ve closed a major round of investor funding that will fuel new tools, features, and partnerships for the future.
- Plus, AWS made some iterative improvements on its cost management tools.
Ditch your towel and flip-flops because it’s time to dive in.
Top Cloud Cost Headlines From May 2025
1. Join CloudZero at Fenway Park on July 11!
Come enjoy the Red Sox with us on Friday, July 11! We’ll watch batting practice on the field, take a private stadium tour, and network with FinOps peers while we eat, drink, and watch the game. It’s a great way to get to know leaders in the cloud finance space in a low-pressure environment.
Register here for this event. We have a limited number of spots available, so sign up quickly! We hope to see you there.
2. CloudZero is about to enter a new phase of growth!
If you’ve read our blog, you know how important it is to have a clear window into your cloud finances. Deep, granular visibility is the only way to control and predict your cloud spend in the face of market changes, business growth or retraction, new product launches, and all the other variables that normally make cost control difficult.
However, getting that visibility is…challenging, to say the least, if you don’t have the right software to automate the process.
That’s why we believe so strongly in our platform: We give you the tools, data, insights, and expert help you need to take control of your cloud finances for good. And we’re more committed than ever to giving you the best experience possible when it comes to cloud financial management.
We can continue doing that thanks to a recent round of investor funding that brought in $56 million — every penny of which will go toward strengthening our service so we can keep helping you save money.
If you haven’t started your cost optimization journey with CloudZero, now is the perfect time to hop on board. We’ve got tons of exciting initiatives in the pipelines. Here’s a small taste as an example of what’s to come.

3. AWS announced a number of feature changes that may affect the services you use.
In a flurry of article releases, AWS notified users of several updates to its various cost-related tools. Give the sources linked below a quick read-through if you’re heavily in the AWS ecosystem. There are some small but mighty improvements you won’t want to miss:
- AWS Pricing Calculator is now available for all users within the AWS Console. You can use this new feature to estimate costs based on a few different variable configurations.
- AWS Cost Explorer will now allow you to compare cost changes between two months. This feature can help you identify the reasons behind spending fluctuations.
- You can now configure savings plans and reservations within the Cost Optimization Hub. This should make it easier to find savings plan recommendations that fit your circumstances and estimate your savings for different plans.
- AWS Cost Anomaly Detection now generates better anomaly alerts. AWS has integrated its Anomaly Detection feature with User Alerts, so you’ll be able to customize your alert parameters and choose how you’d like to receive them.
- The Billing and Cost Management Console just got more helpful. There is now a Payments Account Summary on the Payments page, which will give you a clear overview of your account’s current standing, including outstanding balances, past due amounts, account credits, your Advance Pay balance, and other important information.
While these updates affect only your AWS data — you’ll need another cost management program if you want to track all your cross-platform data in one place—they’re still welcome changes that should help you keep a closer eye on your AWS spend.
